Biography
After having been dumped by Geffen records,
ex-Cuckoo guitarist Andrew Ferris and bassist Jamie Burchell decided to go to
London, to straight to tape studios.
At Jamie's parental shed in West Sussex they had a microphone and a tape
machine, which enabled them to spend the weekend in the studio and the week
analysing in London.
And all this for a whole year.
At this point they had not even
considered forming a band, they were simply preoccupied with finishing songs.
Jamie's brother, Raife, ended up joining Andrew and Jamie on drums for a few
tracks.
In the Summer, Andrew took extended holidays and bought extra equipment, intending to record the debut album, 'Zero for Conduct'. However, after discovering that the equipment wasn't exactly easy to use, this time proved not very productive. By the end of the summer they had completed only 2 backing tracks.
The album finally neared completion in February 2001, in spring that year it was completely finished, so Andrew and Jamie founded their own label - smalltown america and pressed their record.

By now, there was one thing they had missed
out - playing gigs! Their first gig was with Prague band Sunshine. The whole
thing didn't start off too well...Andrew forgot where to come in on 'Tiny
Bombs'.
Their first London gig, described by Andrew as 'a very nervous affair',
took place at the London Cargo on July 17th.

After this, Jetplane Landing supported Hundred Reasons on tour and played several of their own headline shows. They were then ready to play the London Astoria, supporting Ash on February 5th 2002.
They released the single 'This is not Revolution Rock' on Yogaboy, Nathan McGough's (Happy Mondays) label. and 'Summer Ends' on Yogaboy/Smalltown america.
They also re-released their album 'Zero for Conduct'.
