J amie Burchell

Full Name:
Jamie Paul Burchell but everybody in the band calls me Mr Burchell so you can too.

Birthday: 19th September.

Age: 31 (probably why they all call me Mr Burchell.)

What do you do in the band?: Help write the songs and play the bass, also organise van hire, talk to promoters, in the past I booked the tours, I keep a worried eye on the bank account, I drive the van sometimes, book the B&B's, take my oil a lot, and do the odd backing vocal.

What do you do if you're not busy with Jetplane Landing? I am becoming very good at Ultimate Soccer Manager on my PC at the moment.

Who are your main influences?: I like Rage Against The Machine and any band who like them.

What is the first record you ever bought?: The first record I paid for with my own money was The Jam LP Dig The New Breed, I was 13, but I thought it was called Dig The New Bread, for some strange reason, and the shop assistant laughed at me when I asked for it - fair enough.

What is the best gig you've ever played? Personally, well, I play almost exactly the same on every show, (just saying that to wind up the rest of the band if they read this, ) but as a band we have played a few great shows, our second show ever in Derry because we suddenly new it might work, The Astoria in London with Ash and Hundred Reasons because we didn't die of nerves, The Electric Ball Room in London with Seafood because as Nathan said 'We slayed them,' and The Limelight in Belfast May 30th 2002 because we played the best we have so far.

What is your favourite song ever?: At the moment Fugazi's Bed For The Scraping but it changes all the time.

If the world would end in 3 minutes, what would you do?: Get into bed with my girlfriend, put on 'Dancing with tears in my eyes' by Ultravox or 'I just died in your arms tonight' by the Cutting Crew and shed one solitary tear for the inhumanity of it all.

What is the future of music?: I think people want more and more challenging, complex, interesting things to stimulate there ever sophisticated taste but probably a TV show called Rock Idol.

What is your favourite biscuit? (a packet of those will be heading your way...maybe): Thanks for the offer but I don't have a sweet tooth, I like my pancakes savoury not sweet, oh yes, so I would have to have some kind of wheat cracker, but don't bother sending it unless it comes with cheese because on there own they are a little dry. I'm not being ungrateful, am I?
